EMERGENCY BRAKING DISTANCE (RAILWAY BOARD’S LETTER NO. 2001/M (L)/466/63 DATED 11-02-2004) The emergency braking distances for following train combinations with air and vacuum brake and wagons hauled by diesel locomotive at different speeds and on level sections have been estimated values are as under.
EBD of coaching stock hauled by single locomotives:-
At 110 KMPH, WDM2 to be used in double headed or MU consist.
EBD of coaching stock hauled by single WDM2c/ WdP2 locomotive.
For 22 and more coaches used multiple loco.
EBD of freight stock hauled by single WDM2 Locomotive.
WDM2 be used in double headed or MU consist.
EBD of Freight stock hauled by single WDG2 locomotive:-
WDG2 be used in double headed or MU consist. This value is based on certain theoretical assumptions; hence these may be taken as guidelines only.
